What is the Humanities Fest?

A Celebration

The Humanities Fest at East Central College is a celebration of language, literature, and the arts. Students from local high schools are invited to meet professors of the humanities and participate in a wide range of creative activities and contests.

Featured Speaker

Stefene Russell
​Stefene Russell is a St. Louis-based poet, journalist and editor. She's the author of Inferna (Intagliata Press, 2013), The Possum Codex (Otis Nebula, 2015) and 47 Incantatory Essays (Spartan Press, 2019). She was the 2018 Laumeier Sculpture Park poet-in-residence. ​Activities

  • Video sessions for creative writing, extemporaneous speaking, philosophy and ethics, and Spanish.
  • Trophies and prizes will be awarded to contest winners in their respective categories.
  • Academic and career video session will offer students information about studying and careers in the fields of English, journalism, film, foreign language, and mass media.
